Job purpose

As a member of the transportation department, Driver II is required to drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The team member is required to be flexible and perform warehouse duties and deliver goods to internal locations and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment and grow our “Safety First Culture”.

- Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions.
- Report defects, accidents or violations.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned by supervision.

Skills and Knowledge
Qualifications include:

- Basic computer skills
- Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver.
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.).


Education and Experience


- Highschool or equivalent (Required).
- 12 months of Class B verifiable driving experience in the last 3 years (required).
- Clean MVR and Accident History.
- Good Work History.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- CDL Driver: 3 years (Preferred).

Work Environment

- Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Performing duties outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occurs and is required.
- Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
- The noise level that is typical for this work environment can be loud.

Physical requirements

- May be required to stand for long periods of time.
- May involve some repetitive motions.
- Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
- Manual and physical dexterity needed to perform duties of the position
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Maintain the production pace of the other team members.
- Will engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of furniture.
